Meromat – Terms of Service

Welcome to Meromat ("मेरो मत" in Nepali). Please read these Terms carefully before using our platform. By accessing or using Meromat, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
1. About Meromat
Meromat is a civic engagement and matching platform that helps users explore how their opinions align with political candidates.
We have three types of users:
- Candidates: Individuals who sign up, claim their profiles, and provide details such as name, email, education, occupation, and social media links.
- Visitors: Individuals who answer questions for matching purposes; no sign-up is required.
- Visitor Voters: Individuals who provide an email address for the purpose of verifying and preventing spam votes.
2. Candidate Verification
We verify candidates using official identification and technology such as selfie or ID scans.
However, we cannot guarantee that every candidate is who they claim to be. Verification is based on the data provided to us and does not constitute independent investigation.
Information displayed about candidates, as well as vote results, popularity rankings, or match percentages, are for general informational and civic-awareness purposes only. They are not official, and should not be relied upon as verified facts or formal election data.
3. Voting and Authenticity
Votes cast on Meromat are for engagement and informational display only.
We cannot verify the authenticity or eligibility of voters, including whether they are valid voters from Nepal.
All voting and match outcomes are indicative, not authoritative.
4. Use of the Platform
You agree to use Meromat lawfully, respectfully, and only for civic participation. You must not:
- Submit false or misleading information
- Attempt to manipulate votes or results
- Harass, threaten, or defame others
- Interfere with the operation or security of the platform
5. Data and Privacy
We collect only the information necessary for Meromat to function effectively.
- Candidates: Data voluntarily submitted to display public profiles.
- Visitors: Anonymous interaction or location data for analytics.
- Visitor Voters: Email addresses to prevent duplicate or spam voting.
We do not share personal data with third parties except as required for technical services such as donation processing, sign-in, or analytics. If such partnerships are introduced, we will update our Terms and Privacy Policy accordingly.
6. Content Policy
Meromat encourages open and respectful participation. We prohibit:
- Hate speech, threats, or harassment
- False or defamatory content
- Discriminatory or inflammatory statements
- Commercial promotion or spam
We may remove any content or restrict access for violations.
7. Intellectual Property
All text, design, and features on Meromat are owned or licensed by us. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute our materials without written permission.
8. Neutrality
Meromat is a neutral and independent platform. We do not endorse or oppose any candidate, party, or ideology.
9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Meromat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
We make no guarantee about the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any data, including candidate information, votes, or popularity scores.
We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from reliance on this platform or its content.
10. Data Retention
We do not delete user data unless legally required. Candidate data and voter records are maintained for transparency and analytical purposes.
11. Modifications
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Meromat constitutes acceptance of any changes.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the Constitution of Nepal, including Article 17 (Right to Freedom: opinion and expression), and applicable Nepali laws.
